Originally, Carlin was a Glaswegian but was changed to a Cockney when Alan Clarke saw a then unknown Ray Winstone walk in a unique way.

Carlin. Carry on.
Woods. Ah! Leave it out, Stripey! I ain't hurting you!
Richards. Yer in my bleedin' way!
Archer. Oi!
Woods. It's all right, Ben.
Richards. What's up with you, weirdo? You want stripin' do ya? You might get left alone 'ere, but I'll cut you to bleedin' ribbons if I get any of yer.

When Carlin is being told to eat his breakfast and the chant begins, the scene moves along the dining hall and a crew member in a grey jacket operating a camera can be seen briefly in the top right hand corner.
